FOLD RESIDENTS

Our residents perfectly capture the feelings of being in FOLD, with their wild and relentless sets transporting you through our shutters, onto our dance floor and beyond.

  • Voicedrone

Lasha Jorjoliani is an often-unreadable enigma, lending much of his time to his studio, curating line-ups and sharpening his performances in the booth. Although an undeniable figurehead of the scene, Voicedrone is by no means explicitly tied to co-founding FOLD.

Four years on, Lasha is in an indestructible one-way lane, having developed a graphic, dynamic sound that we come together to experience. At his core is a passion to create and nurture community; this purpose is channelled into every event he plays - here at home, in Europe and beyond. Playing at influential venues and parties including his beloved HTBX London has preserved his significance in the underground scene and his constant admiration from the FOLD family.

The phrase “leading by example” may be somewhat overused, but in the case of Voicedrone, such a statement is entirely appropriate.

  • Anabel Arroyo

Anabel Arroyo is fast becoming an in-demand name in dance music, holding a residency in FOLD and a reputation for intense, groovy sets that whip crowds into frienzies.

After honing her skills in Seville she moved to Madrid where she quickly made a name for herself, playing many parties alongside some of the biggest names in techno, whilst developing her trademark energetic style. Since arriving in London three years ago she has advanced it even further, with her own positive, relentless energy infecting crowds before the music even hits their ears. Anabel’s movements reflect her music, with her playful, bouncy sets leaving crowds across the UK and Europe clinging onto every beat, whilst she takes note of all the emotions before her, enjoying every second.

Two years into her residency at FOLD, Anabel’s sets are infamous for their sophisticated transitions and catchy, groove-infused sound that lingers in the minds of crowds long after the music has stopped. This sound is also heard in her productions, that have been released on vinyl and digital on LABURNŪM Records, Emphatic Rec and Fluctuat Records.

  • James Newmarch

Rarely an event goes by at FOLD when James Newmarch does not make an appearance. Whether it is in the DJ booth or the Engineer’s, as Resident and Technical Manager James’ influence is almost always felt. It is this continuing presence that has played a huge part in the growth of FOLD, with him striving for the best possible sound and lighting experience.

His own musical journey began at Corsica Studios, finding opportunities in their long-running Jaded series, along with regular appearances at HTBX London. Joining FOLD at the very beginning of our journey, James’ thundering sets have become known for their cheekiness, with the occasional quirk never failing to bring smiles to those dancing. Whilst his infamous B2B with Voicedrone has brought many an UNFOLD to a close.

All of our resident DJs reflect the explosive, high octane energy that FOLD is famous for, whilst also bringing their own unique flair. From industrial to groovy, heavy to bouncy, our residents offer a range of styles, creating memories of our dancefloor that remain long after the music stops.

  • Gareth Wild

Label owner and manager of ‘EarToGround’, co-owner and manager of LDNwht and East Side Gallery.

His story begins in 1992 during the early years of Jungle. By 94 he had developed a very strong addiction to vinyl and London’s underground rave culture. As the years progressed his musical tastes developed to the genre known as Techno. Along the way he has gained over 15 years of underground musical diversity. This diversity and influence can be heard in his productions. He strives for an over all, forward thinking sound for EarToGround.

In 2011 he brought Lucy’s Stroboscopic Artefacts to the UK for the first time with two packed out parties at Corsica Studios. This relationship developed further with Oblivious Artefacts designing the artwork for the first series of four releases on EarToGround Records. And in 2013 he finally brought Jonas Kopp to the UK for the first time as well as Reeko to London for his debut first appearance to the capitol.

  • Alba Heidari

Currently residing in London, Alba is a DJ first and foremost who exhibits vast open-minded versatility with all of her mixes.

Growing up in Madrid, where she garnered her DJing experience, Alba Heidari has consistently sought to explore a range of different genres. With a comprehensive knowledge of drum n bass, breaks, hardcore, hardtek, electro, and even gothic industrial, she defined her technical prowess and discovered the raw industrial techno that pulls together her versatile sound.

Whether she is utilising vinyl or digital sources for her blistering DJ sets, Alba’s uncanny mix of punishing and playful has made her a growing staple at parties in Spain and in London, including a residency at Aria. She formed the collective "D.T.V" (Decoding The Void) with frequent collaborator Manson X to further sharpen their skills and bring theirs and other artists’ music to a broader audience.

Alba’s bold sound stands in sharp contrast with her modest character. Her passion for finding unknown, local, and underrated releases benefits the underground dance music community at large while the original tracks charge her DJ sets with a unique energy that defies mainstream trends.

  • 7XINS

7XINS (aka Ben Short) is predominantly a producer and live electronic music performer concentrating on a manipulation of machinery and hardware.

Residing from a post industrial town in South Wales.

With a background in mechanical engineering and electronics, Ben's transition into audio electronics was a natural one, having developed a healthy obsession with machines and the intricacies of sound since his early discovery of hard house and rave culture.

Now heavily involved in London’s dance music scene and holding down a residency as a live performer at one of London's most exciting venues, FOLD. Ben has made a rich analogous sound with a strong sense of depth and immersive atmosphere as his trademark.

  • Lockhart

With playing experience to rival those in the game for decades, a residency in FOLD now under her belt, and a famously huge arsenal of explosive tracks, Lockhart is one of the most exciting artists in the UK right now.

The born-and-raised East Londoner learnt to mix with footwork, breaks and UK techno, but it was experimental club music where Lockhart found her feet and its influence is still seen today in her intense-yet-playful sets. Experiences in Berlin and London exposed her to the darker sounds of dance music, which swayed her own style, and led to her focusing on the raw, heavy techno that she now plays with great success. Residencies on several parties across London led to her becoming a frequently spotted name on lineups, which soon brought her onto the radar of FOLD where she was welcomed into the family.

Her self-assured aura quickly spreads through crowds, instilling a bond of trust that remains throughout her time in the booth. Never far away from her sets is her mischievous grin that accompanies her dark, trance-infused melodies, whilst she toys with the crowd. Lockhart doesn’t play to them - she plays with them. Knowing precisely what actions will get the desired reactions, the crowd are her puppets, and Lockhart is their mistress.

  • Riva

After initially falling under the spell of dance music during her upbringing in the Middle East, she has focused in recent years on further cultivating this interest here in London. Our relationship with Riva began back in July 2021, as she ventured out after the world’s extended hiatus and attended our opening weekend. Drawn to the inclusive and non-judgmental vibe at FOLD she quickly felt at home and that appearance became the first of many, as she further immersed herself in this city’s dance culture.

Riva’s own unique sound, ranges from the eclectic to the energetic, taking influence from her British-Indian background and experiences living in Hong Kong and South Africa to craft her style. Combining the fast and dark with the soft and emotive, she seeks to convey messages through her music, pushing topics that are important to her - both on and off the dance floor.

In her relatively short music career, she has already played in four continents and had her first international tour back in December playing five dates in India. This year alone she has already played twice here in Canning Town, along with the queer haven that is Spielraum in Amsterdam’s De School.
