For this month’s DETECT, we present an enchanting mix from Slinky Kinky as a fitting accompaniment to this welcome heatwave.
After an UNFOLD opening at the tail-end of last year that had us immediately diving into her SoundCloud for more, it was a natural to invite the artist and digital anthropologist into our long-running mix series.
In Slinky Kinky’s words, “This mix is slow, chuggy, and sensual. Over the past few months I feel like I’ve finally arrived into my own skin, and this mix reflects the mix of calm and excitement that’s come with that. It leans into slower, more psychedelic sounds; deep, hypnotic, and a little hazy around the edges.
I’ve chosen tracks that feel atmospheric and immersive, with a strong low-end pressure that slowly pulls the listener in. As I’ve always enjoyed mixes that offer something slightly different from what you’d hear on the dancefloor, while still teasing the energy of what might happen if we were to meet at the club.
